CALL TO WORSHIP

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us St. Martin of Tours as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the virtue he showed in the detachment from material possessions he exercised during his lifetime.

We pray that we may always be conscious of the needs of the less fortunate around us.

We pray that we may be eager to assist our brothers and sisters in Christ, out of love for God.

We pray that we may be as devoted a servant of God as he was.

We pray that we may never allow the opinions of those around us to hinder our devotion to God.

May we grow in a spirit of detachment from worldly things. We pray that we may grow in the desire for the true riches of Heaven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Lord, if Your people still have need of my services,

I will not avoid the toil.

Your will be done. I have fought the good fight long enough.

Yet if You bid me continue to hold the battle line in defense of Your camp,

I will never beg to be excused from failing strength.

I will do the work You entrust to me:

Pray for those on the list

While You command, I will fight beneath Your banner.
